Southeast Area Rally
Piedmont Federation Small Engine Troubleshooting Participants
Appomattox FFA and Buckingham FFA paired up to host the 1st Souper Bowl, a canned food drive contest between the two schools. Appomattox FFA members rallied their student body and community members to collect $1800 worth of canned goods.

HyperLink Avian Bowl Team 5th in State

The Avian Bowl CDE consists of a team-based round of trivia questions and an individual test designed to evaluate the members’ knowledge of poultry management and sciences. Team members included Josie Jones, Andrew Gallier, Damara Dixon and Courtney Davis. Dixon was the 3rd high individual. The team placed 5th overall.

Floriculture Team Places 9th in State

Jade Campbell, Caylan Moore, Cierra Moore and Carley Nelson placed 9th in the State Floriculture CDE. Participants were required to identify over 200 common flowers by common name and complete a general knowledge exam about the basic biological and scientific principles of producing and marketing flowers, plants and foliage. Each student was also required to create a floral arrangement and itemized invoice.

HyperLink Jr. Agricultural Mechanics Team 10th in State

Josie Jones, Ethan Moore and Andrew Gallier placed 10th in the state Junior Agricultural Mechanics CDE. Participants were required to demonstrate arc-welding skills through a lap weld and home electrification demonstrations. Additionally, the team had to complete a variety of problem-solving skills on machinery, electricity, structures, and environmental and natural resources. Students were required to correctly identify nearly 100 hand tools and demonstrate measuring proficiency. Jones was the 12th high individual and Gallier placed 13th.

HyperLink Agriscience Fair Silver Rating

Jenna St. John completed a project titled The Effect of Weaning Weight on Dollar Value in Angus Cattle. St. John earned a silver rating in the Animal Systems Division 5 part of the contest.
